Australia Day Celebrations

Kicking off at 8am with a Free BBQ breakfast of bacon & egg rolls and tea and coffee, Wollondilly will welcome new citizens during the Citizenship Ceremony and will recognise the valuable contributions local residents make to our community through the Australia Day Awards.

The Australia Day and Citizenship Ceremony commences at 9am with an official flag parade by the  and welcome by Mayor Cr Matthew Deeth.

The Mayoral Fishing Competition will be held down by the duck pond from 8am till 12pm and is for children under 15 years. It is designed to foster a sense of responsibility for the local environment and assist in the regeneration of the aquatic habitat within the Botanic Gardens. Participants must have adult supervision at all times.

 Some of the overall highlights of the day include:

  • Raising of the Australian, Aboriginal & Wollondilly Flag
  • Citizenship & Affirmation Ceremony
  • Presentation of Australia Day Awards
  • Australia Day Ambassador 
  • Win one of two $250 Vouchers from Supa IGA
  • FREE Breakfast – Bacon & egg on a roll, tea,coffee & bottled water, Cuppa & Lamington
  • FREE Sausage Sizzle lunch

Australia Day Camden

Thousands line Argyle Street Camden to enjoy the parade

Celebrate Australia Day the Camden way with a day full of civic and community celebrations on Sunday 26 January 2020. 

On Australia Day we come together to share our stories about what makes our country great and Council will host the annual event that celebrates all that we are as a community and a nation.

In 2020 the event will commence at 8.15am at the Camden Civic Centre with a Thanksgiving Service then the family friendly street party will kick off on John Street at 9am. The Macarthur Lion’s Street Parade will be at 10am and the Official Ceremony will begin at 11.15am.

The Official Ceremony will include an address by Camden’s Australia Day Ambassador, Josephine Peter, presentation of the Australia Day Awards and a Citizenship Ceremony where 50 candidates will become Australia’s newest Citizens.
